About Us
Senior citizens of the society represent the past out of which present has come into existence. Not to be taken as ungrateful, the younger generation is expected to be duty bound to take proper care of their elders, well-realizing that the youth shall also very soon turn into an age of elders and would expect the same treatment which we are required to deliver our elders at present. Under an empathetic concern for the elders, S. Onkar Singh Sandhu, in company with like minded friends realized the necessity of providing proper environment with adequate facilities to help the senior citizens live a comfortable life under proper care.
With inspiration and co-operation from his sincere friends, a momentous project was inaugurated on 21 July 2001 to establish Guru Ram Dass Old Age Home in a plot measuring 1150 sq yd at the Upper Bari Doab Canal, Link Road, Amritsar. For this Purpose, Vishvkarma Welfare Trust has been formed under a trust Deed duly registered.
- Establishment and running of the Old Age Homes.
- Helping the students of economically weaker sections.
- Arranging marriages of the wards of poor and needy families.
- Helping the orphans and widows for their rehabilitation with provision of necessities.
- Funding for cremation of unclaimed dead bodies., -T’Iiose having no money for the purpose are also given necessary help.
The Trust is being run purely on philanthropic and altruistic intentions mainly to help the senior citizens live comfortably and free from worldly worries. No doubt, many of the well wishers do offer contributions towards meeting the financial obligations which cater to normal living expenses in addition to medical expenses in these times of high cost of living. At present, we have 30 inmates living under our care with 8 staff members to look after them. With provision of adequate facilities, our monthly expenditure computes to about Rs. I ,50,000/-.
Through this letter, we approach one and all well-wishers of humanity to contribute monetary help whatever possible to help us carry on with this social cause which we have undertaken.

Kindly donate liberally to this cause of human welfare that helps one enjoy mental satisfaction. Contributions to the Trust gets IT exemption under section 80-G of the Income Tax Act 1961.
